Windows 8 smartphone

A Chinese company says it will bring the yet-to-be-released Windows 8 to the small screen.
In Technology Group has seemingly dedicated itself to merging the Windows PC experience with the smartphone--something the company has dubbed the "post-smartphone." They started with phones running Windows XP a few years ago, and by earlier this year, ITG's XPPhone was available with Windows 7. Now it says a far slimmer, lighter, and energy efficient XPPhone 2 that will run both Windows 7 and the PC version of Windows 8 (once it's released) is in the works.
Though it seems doubtful to me that many consumers will find a need for so much Windows in their pocket, ITG has made sure to pack the XPPhone 2 with the meaty hardware to pull it off. This beast will boast a 1.6GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. ITG's Web site also mentions the possibility of an insane 2GHz model. There's also plenty of storage space to house Microsoft's notoriously bulky OSes, with 112GB on board.

ITG is billing the XPPhone 2 not just as a phone but as the "smallest notebook PC in the world," measuring 140mm X 73mm X 17.5mm. The pitch is basically that the phone is easily dockable and can stand in for a laptop, desktop and in-car navigation system.
The success of this kind of a device will likely depend on it being at least more usable than the English translation of its press release, which requires several aspirin to navigate, with sentences like: "The Editor considers that, presently it forms three camps of smart phone in the way of tripartite confrontation--The Apple, Google & Moto, and Intel & Microsoft & xpPhone, of which stands for three complete different technical orientations."
Let's hope they took the money they saved on their translator and put it into engineering.Engadget reports that we could see an XPPhone 2 release as soon as January.

Upgrading From Windows XP to Windows 7

The official word from Microsoft is you can’t upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7; you need a clean install. But in fact you can upgrade, including moving your data, applications, and settings. Here are some tips to help.

With Microsoft having abandoned Windows XP SP2, late-adopting companies still using XP are being pushed to make the upgrade to Windows 7. Windows XP is a dying breed.  It’s time to upgrade. Microsoft says only Windows Vista systems are eligible to upgrade, while Windows XP users need to make a clean install of the new operating system:

You can’t directly upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, says Microsoft.

Thankfully, you can avoid the need to wipe the disk of each PC and clean-install Windows 7 manually.  Some tricks are more effective than others. Let’s look at some of these upgrade options, the DO’s and DON’Ts, and pick the slickest (and cheapest) and method.
#1: Don’t migrate from Windows XP to Windows Vista to Windows 7

Some IT departments are so desperate to avoid clean-installing Windows 7 that they “upgrade the upgrade.”

The workaround involves performing an in-place upgrade from Windows XP SP3 to Vista SP2 (which is possible), then an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 using Setup.exe (which is also possible, of course). This is a bad idea because it requires paying for Windows Vista licenses. There are other reasons why no company should even consider going that route.

The reason Microsoft doesn’t recommend upgrading from XP to Windows 7 is that there are too many changes to PC configurations (such as applets, hardware support, and the driver model) to carry it all forward, according to Microsoft’s Engineering 7 blog. A clean install is better.

The driver and legacy applications problem could be solved if your IT department puts enough time into it. But also, PCs become unstable. After years of installing programs, collecting temporary files, crashing dozens of times and sometimes fighting malware, most old Windows XP systems have become messy. Performance is just not on par with a clean install; neither is stability.

Add the Command Prompt to the Windows Explorer Right-Click Menu ...

Add the Command Prompt to the Windows Explorer Right-Click Menu ...

  • Many computer users, specially the programmers, need to launch a command prompt window every once in a while to execute some dos/shell commands. The problem is, when a command prompt window launched, the default path is normally the system path or the user profile's path. The users will then have to do all the "cd" commands to change the directories to the path he/she wants
  •

  • This trick shows you how to add an option called "Command Prompt" when you right-click on a folder in Windows. With this option, a Command Prompt Window will launch and its current directory will be the path to the folder you've selected.

  • Use this trick at your own risk.
  • Here's what you'll get:

  • Follow This Instructions

  •    1. Start > Run
  •    2. Enter "regedit" and hit Enter
  •    3. Expand to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\shell"
  •    4. Right-click on "shell" and select New > Key
  •    5. Make sure a new key is created under "shell". Change the name of this key to                 "Command Prompt"
  •    6. Right-click on this new key "Command Prompt" and select New > Key
  •    7. Change the name of this key to "command"

  •    8. Here's what we should have:
  •    9. Double-click on the "(Default)" text on the right window to bring up the edit box
  •   10. Enter this text into the Value Data field:
  •       cmd.exe "%1"
  •   11. Click OK and close the registry.

How to start Windows in safe mode

afe mode is very useful if you think you may have an infection on your computer, or if there is some other problem with Windows. Safe mode is a way to start Windows with the minimum of applications and facilities running. Consequently, viruses and the like are not invited to the 'safe mode' party.

To enter safe mode on Windows you need to press the F8 key when the system is booting up. You may have to wait a moment or two for the BIOS to finish its work. That is, you should wait for the initial 'splash screen' and system information to disappear. If you miss your opportunity, don't worry, just restart the machine and have another go.

After pressing F8 you will be presented with a menu of 'Advanced Boot Mode' options. For the purposes of this post we are only interested in the first two of these: 'Safe Mode' and 'Safe Mode with Networking'. You should have up-to-date anti-virus and other security software installed on your machine. If you do not, you can use 'Safe Mode with Networking' to start up Windows, download, install and run them. However, it is usually best to start the machine using the basic 'Safe Mode' option. When starting in safe mode you will see a stream of file-names and services being started. If there is a problem with Windows you may see an error message at this stage. If so, make a note of the error message and type it into Google (other search engines are available) on another computer in order to learn more about the problem.

If all else fails and you still can't use Windows normally, you can use safe mode to copy your important files onto a memory stick or some other device before reinstalling Windows...

Stop Error 0x0000007E After SP3 is installed , Gives BSOD Stop Error for a second and reboot again.Problem after installation of Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Computer Restarts after start up, it prompts for a reboot. This process will continue unless the computer is started in Safe Mode. In Safe mode the computer boots correctly and everything seems fine.

This problem only appears on some systems after upgrading to SP3. This particular problem on systems that have been prepared with SysPrep.

The sysprep image was created on an Intel based computer, and then the sysprep image is deployed on a Non-Intel system such as an AMD processor.

In these cases, the registry entry for Intelppm is incorrectly set and causes the computer to go into a continuous reboot after the service pack has installed.

How Can I Solve This Problem?

Exiting Windows the Cool and Quick Way

Normally it takes a hell lot of time just Shutting down Windows, you have to move your mouse to the Start Button, click on it, move it again over Shut Down, click, then move it over the necessary option and click, then move the cursor over the OK button and once again (you guessed it) click. This whole process can be shortened by creating shortcuts on the Desktop which will shut down Windows at the click of a button. Start by creating a new shortcut( right click and select New> Shortcut). Then in the command line box, type (without the quotes.)

Speed Up Your Network and Internet Access

Windows Xp: Speed Up Your, Speed Up Your Network and Internet Access

I have a dial up connection and it improve my speeds about 25% in surfing the internet. give it a try. Im IT , only do it if you feel comfortable with changing registry.

Increasing network browsing speed

Does your computer slow down when you browse your local area network and connect to other computers that are sharing data? One of the most common causes of this slowdown is a feature of Windows Explorer that looks for scheduled tasks on remote computers. This effort can take some time on some computers and can really slow down your browsing. The window with which you are browsing the network may appear to freeze momentarily, as the system is waiting for a response from the remote computer.

Windows XP: Speeding Disk Access

Although this problem is a complex one, the solution is very simple. Instead of having to wait for the remote scheduled tasks, which is useless information to anyone who is not a system administrator remotely configuring scheduled tasks, you can disable this feature.

With Windows Server 8, Microsoft has outdone itself, from a revamped UI to hundreds of new features, including vastly improved virtualization management

Microsoft claims 300 new and improved features in Windows Server 8, but after a few days in Redmond watching demos and stepping through lab sessions, we wonder whether the marketing guys accidentally left off a zero. It's hard to name a Windows Server feature that hasn't been tweaked, streamlined, wizardized, or completely revamped. Whatever grudge you may hold against Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 8 will almost certainly make amends.

If you're a large shop struggling to manage hundreds of Windows servers, Windows Server 8 should ease the job. If you're a small shop trying to squeeze high-end capability from a low-end budget, Windows Server 8 has plenty for you, too. With Windows Server 8, everything from server deployment to high availability becomes smoother and more automated.

WHAT IS A REGISTRY CLEANER AND WHY DO I NEED ONE?

If you've suffered attacks of slow computer processing times or sudden errors in your computer programs, someone may have suggested that you use a registry cleaner. There are varying opinions on whether registry cleaners work, but the simple answer is, yes. If you use a cleaner correctly they will help control the problems you've encountered on your computer. It also helps with the performance of your machine.

The computer registry is a detailed list of the installed and uninstalled programs, hardware and software attached to any computer. After frequent long term usage, the registry can become cluttered and start to impede the processing on your computer. It is common for that to happen when you have programs installed and then you remove them from your computer. This will lead the memory on your computer to have blank spots and other things and makes the computer go in a different route to try and pull up the information from the memory.
Errors occur on computers when numerous programs, links and repairs are added to the registry over a considerable amount of time. These errors begin to slow your computer and eventually can cause the computer to crash or lock up when it senses a threat to its internal system. There are simple solutions to de-cluttering your registry to improve speed and performance of the system.
There are numerous benefits from correctly using a registry cleaner. The amount of errors of driver process failure will decrease considerably if it is cleaned regularly; less time will be spent in frustration over the constant errors and frozen computers; the computer speed will increase during not only start up and shut down, but while you're using the system; corrupt entries that can do fatal damage to your system will be eliminated.
When you decide to use a registry cleaner software program, there are a few items you'll want to keep in mind:
  • Choose software compatible with your system. Check the requirements before you purchase any software and if you have questions, contact the company first. Additional damage can be caused by incompatible programs. It's important to know what operating system is on your computer before choosing.

  • Cleaner programs offer varying degrees of user ability. Scheduled scans for timed checks of your system will help your computer work smoothly and more efficiently. Quick scans offer immediate help if you encounter a problem while working on the computer. Most cleaners will run a window in the background and launch automatically to make it a carefree and easy to use program.

  • As files become corrupt or damaged in the computer, the cleaner program will try to remove these files. Unfortunately many of them cannot detect whether the file is imperative to maintaining the use of certain other programs in the computer and could cause unexpected problems. Search for a registry cleaner that offers an option to check the invalid entries before removing them so you can safeguard your wanted programming.

In today's software market there is a registry cleaning program right for just about any consumer. Make sure you find the right fit for your needs, your abilities and your operating system. Compare programs for not only pricing but what is offered and ease of use.
Registry cleaners, if used properly, can increase the speed and life of your computer immensely. They are easy to maintain and update and may save you many hours of frustration and errors. Head to Download.com where you can find a free registry cleaner  that will work effectively and will be able to help you have a faster and efficient system.

Intel Redesigns Transistors, Computers to Get Faster and Cheaper

A new chip design by Intel Corp. is a major development in the computer industry, and a major advance for the processing power of computers.
Intel Corp. noted in a statement yesterday that it had redesigned the electronic switches used on its computer chips, a move that will allow the chip maker to produce both faster chips and make them less expensive. Intel achieved the increased speed by adding so-called "fins" to the base of the otherwise flat chips. While the technical details may be lost on the vast majority of the public, what it all amounts to is that your next computer purchase is likely to be cheaper than it otherwise would have been.

The new chips will be produced during 2011 and will begin being added to computers next year. Intel has been working on these new "tri-gate" transistors for about ten years now, even as other chip makers are also working on similar designs. Already, analysts in the industry are calling it one of the most significant developments in silicon transistors since the integrated circuit was invented over 50 years ago. Noted Dan Hutcheson, CEO of VLSI Research, Inc. and one who follows the industry, "When I looked at it, I did a big, ‘Wow.’ What we’ve seen for decades now have been evolutionary changes to the technology. This is definitely a revolutionary change."

Hutcheson also noted that "People have been trying to avoid changing the structure," but with the new advance that line of thinking is out the window. The new design, as noted, will mean that processing speeds will continue to grow while at the same time the price of a new computer will continue to shrink.

Computer Training

Computer training is an additional qualification every person must acquire. The employment environment has become demanding over the years and since computers have replaced manpower it is of great importance that new recruitments have basic knowledge of the machine.
In every corporate organization, all the operations are carried out with the help of the computer rather manually. Everything has become computerized therefore computer literacy is deemed valuable.
Why is Computer training is crucial?

A student is required to matriculate certain computer programs before he becomes an apprentice in his field. Many computer training institutions combine computer education with other applications so that it is easy to apply in a certain field pertaining to the student’s career choice. Student’s practice various applications like Photoshop, CorelDraw etc because they are used in many companies and it adds value to a person’s curriculum vitae. Knowledge about such applications also opens a number of career paths and employment opportunities.

Computer training has been facing hindrance from the beginning because in order to operate a computer a computer literate person is required along with hardware peripherals so that the computer performs its tasks efficiently. However, past ten years computers have been reining the economical front with the increasing number of people wanting to become computer literate. Computers with attached CD-ROMs and mobile hard disks have made education effortless and uncomplicated.
Corporate firms have realized the cardinal function of a computer in the organization therefore they have started IT training program in the film itself. Increasing development in the IT sector has made training individuals in a company on computers a viable option.

Online training:

Computer training and online training is similar. The difference being, online training does not involve a physical teacher as such and the training is delivered through the internet using a web browser. Online training is fun as a student can be educated through different interactive methods and he becomes well-acquainted with the system. There are an array of interactive methods viz. chat rooms, social media, instant messaging, video chat, bulletin boards, blogs and discussion forums. Online training can be undertaken as per your convenience, there is no specific timing neither is there regular evaluation, there might be online tests at certain intervals.

Selecting an appropriate computer course:

One must do a research well in advance about all the computer courses available and the institutions providing it in their vicinity. It is the top most priority to make the right choice. Enrolling yourself I for a computer course may not be a cinch. Besides compatibility and awareness, it also requires qualities beyond the system, being a quick learner is one of them.

A person keen on commencing training can simply search for online computer courses. It is economical in terms of price and convenient to be adjusted with a busy routine life. Be cognizant of hoax websites, just because a name appears in the top searches does not mean it cannot be faceless. Discuss with your friends circle and enquire about quality computer courses, it is definite you will get your answer soon.

Do not limit yourself to online computer training courses, do your research well and enjoy the result.
